This contemporary barn home in the middle of the wilderness is the perfect haven for nature enthusiasts and those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and become in tune with the more important things in life.
Unique because of its zigzag design, this contemporary barn home designed by Iredale Pedersen Hook is conscious of its surrounding environment and is therefore designed in a way to make sure it minimizes its impact on the landscape and wildlife -- the house is raised above the ground on stilts.
Located in Nannup, Australia, this holiday home is surrounded by forest and a flood plain and a whole lot of exotic wildlife.
"This is a holiday house, a place of temporary inhabitation that offers a variety of experiences and relationship to the native landscape," says the architect.
"Materials were carefully selected to dialogue with the context. Dark Colorbond steel, rusting steel and recycled jarrah [wood] contributes to the notion of the building as 'shadow'."
