Chinese company CATL has achieved a potential breakthrough with the introduction of a high-tech condensed battery that is capable of packing in exceptional amount of energy given the size and weight of the battery.
Introduced to the watching world over at the Auto Shanghai event, this condensed battery is said to be able to achieve energy density in the range of 500 Wk/kg thanks to futuristic technologies that include the use of ultra-high energy density cathodes, futuristic anode materials and revolutionary approaches toward manufacturing.
CATL states that it is currently in the midst of collaborations with electric aircraft manufacturers in order to test and refine the condensed battery's performance and safety features in order to potentially make it a fixture in eco-friendly aviation, although the battery could also be deployed in the automotive world.
