CATL Unveiled a World's First Prototype Battery with a 1,000km Range

'CATL,' a leading global supplier of electric batteries, unveiled a prototype of the 'Qilin' EV battery. The Qilin is a world-first for the EV industry as it boasts a range that rivals the full tank of a combustion engine vehicle. On one single charge, the Qilin delivers as much as 1,000 kilometers of range at a watt density of 255 watt-hours per kilogram, making it a scalable solution based on the size of the vehicle.
The Qilin will not only be the most range-efficient EV battery on the market, but it will also be one of the most affordable. Tu Le, the managing director of Sino Auto, stated “Being the lowest cost provider isn’t enough to command loyalty, there needs to be more to it -- and that seems to be the Qilin battery for CATL," when speaking about the competitive EV battery market.
According to CATL, the Qilin battery is as much as 13% more powerful than the upcoming battery from Tesla, one of CATL's largest clients.
