Facebook AI recently created a new Computer Vision system that will improve shopping capabilities on the platform. The Computer Vision system is named GrokNet, and it will be implemented to ensure accurate product images. Product recognition can be completed across seven different commerce data sets. The AI e-commerce system also uses cutting edge recognition models, which enhance consumers' abilities to find products. Facebook was able to train its GrokNet system using human annotations.
In the future, the platform will attempt to improve the system, in order to produce a single AI-powered assistant that can rank products based on consumer preferences. This assistant would be able to mimic social shopping experiences that consumers are familiar with.
