The protective chewing gum wrapper is often the perfect thing to use to make sure that a sticky wad of gum doesn't end up on the bottom of your shoe. However, there's a disconnect between these two, as chewing gum tends to end up stuck to everything from the underside of desks to trash cans themselves.
In order to remedy this, Wrigley's rethought its packaging for its Double Mint Gum, which was to simple include two levels of perforations. This made easy-to-tear strips on both the outer and inner gum wrappers, providing twice the amount of opportunity for people to dispose of their chewing gum in a responsible way. Since each piece of gum comes with its own perfectly sized trash wrapper, it requires no more waste than usual to clean up.
