Amy Duong — November 14, 2023 — Art & Design
Design studio Centro de Colaboración Arquitectónica creates a new community center that is made from concrete and defined by its series of arches. It is located in Jalpa de Mendez in Mexico and dubbed the Community Development Center, otherwise known as DCD for short. It is part of a larger master plan for the city's Ministry of Agrarian, Territorial, and Urban Development SEDATU to bring more inclusive spaces to nourish cultural and educational development.
The team states, "The Community Development Center brings numerous benefits to the community, enhancing the quality of life for its users by providing services and activities that promote personal and collective development. It also contributes to reducing social inequalities by offering equitable access to community spaces and resources for people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and provides the community with a dignified, aesthetically pleasing, and functional space to accommodate the cultural activities they need."
