Studios WORKac and Ignacio Urquiza Architects work in collaboration to complete a green-tinted building made from concrete materials and it is a part of the PILARES program that is working to create supportive public spaces across Mexico City in Azcapotzalco. This is the second project designed by the two studios for the program as the first was a blue-tinted center.
The team speaks about the design concept, stating "PILARES are a series of strategically located public buildings across Mexico City, sited in areas experiencing high levels of vulnerability and poverty. Each PILARES building is designed to support various kinds of classes and workshops in support of skill building, as well as bringing cultural programming, learning opportunities and safe spaces for leisure and cross-generational gathering to each neighbourhood."
