Stykka Made a Flat-Pack Workstation from Three Pieces of Cardboard
Laura McQuarrie — March 26, 2020 — Art & Design
To promote self-isolation, Stykka created a work-from-home cardboard desk with a simple, flat-pack design that can be assembled from three folded pieces of cardboard. The temporary desk setup can be ordered online and delivered straight to one's door to create a surface that's suitable for working on, or the open-source template can be downloaded and printed by those who have access to cardboard and a laser cutter. To help as many people as possible, the Danish startup decided to make its cardboard desk design freely available for download under the creative commons license.
As members of its own team lacked suitable desk space to work from home, Stykka quickly crafted a solution—in fact, it took less than 24 hours to turn the idea into a real product.
