Patrick Commecy, a French artist who heads A-Fresco, transforms drab and muted building walls into fresh and funky building murals. However, Commecy and his team of painters create each mural to mimic the fronts of residential buildings and any onlooker would not know the difference from afar.
Using trompe l'oeil effects, the artists are able to creating illusions of hyperrealistic scenes all around France. The building walls are finished with painted-on windows, which include sills full of greenery, and balconies. Even celebrities are painted on the buildings to look as if they reside there.
The murals add life to the buildings' facade and their surrounding neighborhoods. They allow for a positive and aesthetically pleasing transformation, without the heavy infrastructure costs needed for the run-down buildings.
