Brazil's Avuva Cachaca is back with two new recipes that further expand on its already impressive lineup. While relatively new to the rest of the world, Brazil has been producing cachaca (a 500-year-old traditional liquor) for generations and have made the drink the third most consumed spirit in the world. The Brazillian spirit is something truly delightful and in recent years has seen a boom in North America thanks to the cocktail scene.
Avuva Cachaca is a small-batch producer in Brazil that aims to challenge the perceptions of cachaca and to spread the amazing spirit around the world. Avua Cachaca Jequitiba Rosa is the first of the two spirits and is aged for 24 months in Jequitiba Rosa wood found only in Brazil. This version is quite fruity and contains notes of pineapple and spiced apple. The second offering is known as Avua Cachaca Still Strength and is an unaged cachaca. This version contains more alcohol and was designed to be a stronger liquor perfect for mixing in cocktails. Both of these versions seem to be more focused on complimenting cocktails, showing the brand's commitment to break into the North American market.
