The Astana 2017 Expo is a few years away, but companies such as Coop Himmelb(l)au are already thinking about how the area can be adjusted for the big event. The firm has come up with a new concept, focusing on four energy-efficient pavilions, that represent the "cosmos, world, life and mind," according to DesignBoom.
The entire concept looks extremely futuristic, with spiralling metal structures that are so far beyond the usual rectangular high-rises people are used to seeing. However, these designs are perfect for getting people to think differently about how the world is constructed, and the possibilities when we move away from conventional ideas.
The ground section will focus on bringing people together, and it also features a lot of green space to align with the energy-efficient eco-friendly theme of the buildings.
