Canon Reinvents the Consumer Camera with the Kokomo and the AMLOS

Iconic photography brand Canon unveiled two future-forward camera concepts at CES 2022, the AMLOS and Kokomo. Both products are innovative ideas that look to advance the nature of cameras in our newly socially-distanced world.
The ALMOS system is an idea for a gesture-based software program designed specifically for video conferencing. Meanwhile, the Kokomo is a full-fledged social virtual reality platform designed to create more immersive video calls. Both concepts see the brand reimagining the camera as a tool for staying connected while online -- a pertinent challenge in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
ALMOS, which stands for 'Activate My Line of Sight,' intends to give users multiple views of the same meeting from just one camera. In theory, the software would achieve this by utilizing automatic cropping technology that allows presenters to use specific hand gestures to adjust video angles and effects.
