AI Build's Home Hub Prototype Provides AI at Home from a Ceiling Mount
Laura McQuarrie — June 21, 2016 — Art & Design
What looks like a sculptural ceiling fixture from AI Build is actually a smart home hub prototype that facilitates the use of AI at home.
The way start-up AI Build aims to set itself apart from others on the market is with a "teachable" programming system that will make it extremely easy and intuitive to use.
The ceiling-mounted device will feature six built-in cameras that each cover a 60-degrees, to provide a total of 360-degree coverage. The system is set to be able to be taught to identify objects in the room and then recognize and respond to gestures over time. Ultimately, AI Build's goal is to make the home AI system "as easy as asking a friend to turn on a light" with natural language. Currently, the steps for interacting with most smart home systems involve going through an app or a remote control device.
