References: design-milk
The Sonos Ace Headphones are a standout design as they represent a juxtaposing range of ideas that balances between contrasts. It is soft and hard, simple yet complex, machined yet organic, and so forth. The design of the Ace boasts a modern theme with a functional background. It taps into the same notion that can be described for the Wassily Chair by Marcel Breuer. It has a hard shining metal that offers support along with soft and supple leather for a comfortable feel.
Director of Industrial Design at Sonos, Aki Laine explains the extent of the research that went into creating the Ace headphones. He notes, “We did research comfort testing with nearly 600 participants, representing a range in age, gender, different head sizes and shapes, ear sizes, earrings versus no earrings. We even tested the Ace with scarves, glasses, and with different hair lengths.”
