This Home by MISHA Architects Pays Homage to the Story of Hiranyakashipu
Francesca Mercurio — August 3, 2021 — Art & Design
MISHA architects designed a home inspired by an Indian mythological story. The story about Hiranyakashipu explores the idea of the "in-between." MISHA architects took this concept and designed a single-family home that explores the in-betweenness of the built and unbuilt.
The in-between informed all aspects of this design. From the entrance right to the outdoor space, the home was designed as an intentional in-between. The natural and the built continuously meet within the home. Natural water channels run throughout the home and are replenished by rains during monsoon seasons. All the bedrooms in the home lead to the backyard garden and create an indoor-outdoor experience. The courtyard within the home also adds to the sense of the in-between.
Although inspired by the in-between, the home evokes a unified aesthetic.
