These fashion trends from 2008 are gone, hopefully for good. The three trends I’m glad to see go are the skinny jeans for men (I hate the word skinny), the moustache (save it for Halloween night) and women dressed in feathery outfits (Big Bird and other "Sesame Street" puppets should be the only creatures wearing fur and feathers).
Here are the 10 fashion faux pas that Stephanie McGrath is happy to say "Sayonara!" to in her fashionism.ca column:
1. Rolled-up loose jeans with heels or flats
2. The angled bob
3. Gladiator sandals
4. Skinny jeans on men
5. Dressing as though you were a bird or furry creature
6. Military wear
7. Bang fever
8. The Moustache
9. The popped collar and angled haircut
10. The hippie headband

Trend Themes
1. Decline of Skinny Jeans for Men - Opportunity for retailers to promote alternative styles and create a new trend in men's fashion.
2. Shift Away From Feathered Outfits - Potential for innovative designers to explore sustainable and cruelty-free materials to replace fur and feathers in women's fashion.
3. Abandonment of the Moustache Trend - Emerging grooming brands can develop innovative shaving products tailored towards clean-shaven looks and embrace new facial hair trends.
Industry Implications
1. Men's Fashion - Opportunity for men's fashion retailers to capitalize on the decline of skinny jeans and offer alternative styles and fits.
2. Sustainable Fashion - The shift away from feathered outfits creates an opening for sustainable fashion brands to promote cruelty-free and eco-friendly alternatives.
3. Grooming and Shaving - With the decline of the moustache trend, there is an opportunity for grooming brands to market innovative shaving products and cater to clean-shaven looks.
