From Modern 1950s Consoles to Upcycled Vinyl Art
Jamie Danielle Munro — March 14, 2014 — Tech
Upcycled vinyl ideas range from using the records as decorative wall pieces, to turning the products into self-spinning cleaners. Most people from the 1950s would never even have dreamed that the vinyl record could become so versatile, but developments over the last decade have proved otherwise.
Other than being used to clean one's dishes or hang on the wall, another use for the vinyl record is for fashion purposes. The vinyl handbag cleverly integrates this pastime piece of technology into the design, making for an especially vintage feel. Other designers have used upcycled vinyl for its original purpose, except combined the functioning with new technology. A design by Souri Automaten for example copies music from players back to vinyl instantaneously.
