From Spray Can Radios to Designer Aerosol Paints
Laura McQuarrie — August 28, 2014 — Art & Design
These spray can products take inspiration from the iconic bottles that are used to package spray paint. Rather than using the paint inside the cans to create art, many of these projects have been turned into functional sculptures themselves. This includes everything from working radios to furniture pieces, pillows and bouquets.
Since it's known that aerosol cans release volatile organic compounds when they're sprayed, which has been linked to damage to the ozone and our respiratory systems, these spray can-inspired products provide a way to appreciate the form of the cans without causing any harm. Many of these designs make use of the spray can nozzle to include an interactive element to these products, like the Gamago GG clock, which only displays a digital projection of the time when you press the spray button.
