From Designer Landmines to Amputating Condiment Sachets

You may be shocked by all of the creative ways to fight landmines. The tech and bomb-sniffing rodents featured here aren't too bad, but the ad campaigns designed to draw awareness to the harm that landmines do can be pretty brutal. The International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) doesn't skimp on the shock value, which is good, as showing landmines as anything less than tools of war designed to maim and scar would be irresponsible.
However, the ICBL's ads are not the only things to see. There are also ingenious concept devices designed to destroy hidden landmines, such as the Mine Kafon from Massoud Hassani. The Mine Kafon is an anonymous, wind-powered device that seeks and destroys landmines. Here's hoping that all of these creative ways to fight landmines eventually help the world eradicate these awful weapons of war.
