Stockholm-based architecture practice Tham & Videgard Arkitekter is proposing building four interconnected wooden high-rise apartment blocks. Rising to a height of 20 storeys and including 240 apartments, the project will be situated in Loudden, a former international harbor in Stockholm currently undergoing redevelopment.
The buildings will be constructed entirely from Swedish solid wood, with the frames, facades, window frames, doors and finishes all being made from the same material. Each building will be equipped with a rooftop garden and a 1,000 square meter solar panel array to take care of electricity needss.
These wooden high-rises are a great example of architecture that is both eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing. Should the project become a reality, it is sure to inspire many other similar building projects.
