White Peak Distillery, a whiskey distillery owned by Derbyshire, has announced the launch of Wire Works, the brand's first single malt, non-age statement whiskey.
The new single malt consists of a mix of 80% un-peated malted barely from Derbyshire, and 20% peated malted barley from Scotland. According to the Distillery's owners -- husband-and-wife duo Max and Claire Vaughan -- the whiskey took a full year of experimentation to develop. "We spent a year researching different proportions of peated and unpeated barleys to come up with where we’ve landed," explained the couple in a recent press statement.
The expression itself is said to present a complex, fruit-forward flavor profile that conjures the tastes of vanilla, chocolate, orange peel, toffee, and roasted malt.
