Virtual Fashion Conferences

The Fashion World is Getting Technical

On Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, the Fashion Research Institute will host 'Threading the Needle: The Future of Fashion Design.' It will be the the first virtual world-based fashion design conference in history.

Attendees in their "virtual-osity" will be able to create their own avatars and glam them up for interacting in the fashion conference. Eight fashion industry thought leaders (from FIT, Nolcha Fashion Week, PR Couture and more) will present their views on varying topics applicable to the global fashion design world and new designers entering the "real" world.

In addition to the day conference, it’s from 8am-5pm EST (yes, like a real, all-day conference), there will be displays for conference attendees to visit including a 3D trend report, a fashion installation, booths and displays.

The conference is free and open to fashion design students or any recent graduate from a fashion program anywhere in the world. The conference will be presented in English, and you just have to have internet access, download the viewer software program, and Skype and ScienceSim.com accounts - which are also free.
