Shandi Global, a plant-based startup from Singapore, launched a vegan drumstick that looks just like traditional drumsticks and pulls apart like them too. Designed to mimic whole-muscle chicken, the plant-based drumsticks cook and pull apart like traditional meat and are competitively priced to challenge their animal-based counterparts.
The plant-based product is made with ingredients like peas, beans and lentils with herbs, cold-pressed oil and vegetables. The high-protein meatless product is said to taste just like it's been "barbequed on bamboo charcoal."
The startup will be selling its vegan chicken drumsticks to retailers, manufacturers and foodservice providers, offering an innovative, animal-free and environmentally friendly alternative to chicken. Currently, the company makes a variety of vegan chicken products, including breaded patties, strips, shreds and pieces.
