This stunning urban block structure in the middle of the city of Strasbourg is what many students will soon call home -- at least the smart and dedicated ones.
Almost shimmering from afar, this new translucent aluminum-clad building was designed for the architecture school Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture.
Designed by French architect Marc Mimram, this urban block structure, also know as La Fabrique, was designed in a way to combine both the site's industrial factory past with the downtown city feel. With classrooms featuring floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the whole Strasbourg skyline, students are bound to be more productive.
"Today, there can be a tendency to enclose, thicken and solidify, to separate ourselves from the environment and the natural elements," says Mimram. "La Fabrique expresses a renewed ambition to resist this trend and to open the building towards the city and the urban skylines."
