Toledano + Architects Renovates an Apartment in Biarritz

French design firm Toledano + Architects has taken on a design project that renovates an apartment in Biarritz, which is a seaside town for a calming and tranquil ambiance. The team adds a raised sleeping area that looks out to the lighthouse nearby which is seen through the large bay window. Originally, the home was built in the 1930s and it was an entrance hall of a villa designed in a Basque style.

The clients were looking for a tranquil place to sleep but also lively enough to host friends for dinner parties so the architects have suggested the idea of adding a mezzanine level. Toledano shares, "The waves and the sinuous coast set the tone for the project, entirely drawn in curves." He continues, "The bay window is the main character of the space because of the spectacle it offers, like a painting in eternal movement."
