Vegan Meringue Sweeteners

The Sweet Meringues by 'Liteez' Offer a New Way to Flavor Hot Drinks

Sweet meringue desserts may have been first invented in the Swiss village of Meiringen in the 18th century, but a company based out of Israel called 'Lampados' is looking to reinvent these frothy confections in an entirely new way with 'Liteez.'

As well as being standout for their vegan formula, Liteez distinguishes itself from other meringue products by specifically being a new sweetener concept. The idea is that the dessert-shaped sweeteners can be placed atop hot drinks to melt and provide exactly one calorie per "kiss."

Instead of egg, which is a staple ingredient in classic meringue desserts, the company is using a blend of patent-pending proprietary vegetable protein and prebiotic fiber to give the sweeteners the familiar shape of sweet meringues. Lifeez is set to go into production this spring and will be available across Europe and the United States in the fall.
