PPAG Architects Renovates the Steirereck am Pogusch Space

Viennese design studio PPAG Architects extends and renovates the Steirereck am Pogusch restaurant located in Austria. The located rests in a forested site within the rural Pogusch village. At a glance, it is a glasshouse structure with a captivating view that overlooks the surroundings when seated inside. With lush farmland around the area, the space that was previously only a restaurant now also has accommodation units for guests and staff as well.

Architect Christian Wegerer speaks about the project to Dezeen, stating that "Prior to the intervention, the restaurant was cozy but dark. Through various interventions, the pre-existing buildings and additions form a village ensemble on the scale of rural development in the mountain landscape. For the most part, the striking new buildings are built into the hillside, and they blend in as eye-catchers in the surroundings of nature and the traditional built environment."
