Savory Fish-Shaped Desserts

This Unique State Fair Food is Served in an Edible Fish-Shaped Cone

One of the most interesting Minnesota State Fair foods from this year's event comes from the Rabbit Hole and goes by the name 'Carpe Diem.'

This unusual ice cream treat takes the form of a fish-shaped buttermilk miso waffle cone and boasts a filling of strawberry balsamic sauce, plus vanilla ice cream, a graham cracker crumble and fresh strawberry pieces. While most of these ingredients are fairly common among ice cream desserts, the addition of miso and balsamic gives the State Fair food an added amount of depth and interest.

Rather than serving the dessert in a regular waffle cone as per usual, this one sits in the open mouth of the fish-shaped serving vessel, which is what gives the unique fair food treat its cleverly branded and fish-inspired name.
