Honeycomb Skyscraper Proposals

Studio Gang’s Design Has an Intricate and Fragmented Composition

UK firm Studio Gang drafts a skyscraper proposal for the city of Toronto and this is its first architectural venture in Canada. The company’s signature style is mirrored in the fragmented exterior, the dynamic terraces, the distorted geometric shapes and the planters. Dubbed the ‘One Delisle,’ the project is offered as a new addition to the Deer Park neighborhood.

The structure will have both commercial and residential spaces. To account for the unpredictable winters in the region, Studio Gang visualizes a shield for some of the terraces. The skyscraper proposal shows "eight-story-high volumes that are each shaped like a distorted hexagon." Due to their distribution in the design, the building evokes the shape of a stretched honeycomb. In addition, due to the aesthetically curious composition, Studio Gang is able to strategically and efficiently distribute light and shade lower level residencies.
