Sky City Will Be Taller than the Burj Khalifa and Built in 90 Days

Broad Sustainable Building (BSB) is attempting to build the world's tallest skyscraper, Sky City, in just 90 days. The Chinese company will hope to begin construction of the skyscraper in the city of Changsa by November 2012. Completing an 838-meter building (the Burj Khalifa is 828 meters) is no small task. Fortunately, BSB is no stranger to working under strict time constraints. The company once built a 15-story building in six days, and a 30-story hotel in 15 days.

The company's secret lies in its prefabrication of nearly every piece of the buildings it erects. It's said that 95 percent of Sky City will be completed before BSB breaks ground. In addition to be being the world's tallest tower, Sky City will also be one of the most sustainable, and is said to use a fifth of the energy of other buildings its size.
Trend Themes
1. Prefabricated Skyscrapers - BSB will attempt to complete the Sky City, one of the tallest buildings in the world, using prefabricated construction techniques in 90 days.
2. Sustainable Skyscrapers - Using energy-efficient materials and technologies, Sky City by BSB is set to be one of the most sustainable skyscrapers in the world - this paves a way for other construction companies to follow suit and strive for green skyscrapers.
3. Ultrafast Construction - BSB's approach to completing buildings at breakneck speed using prefabrication sets the stage for ultrafast construction processes in the future.
Industry Implications
1. Construction - Speedy and efficient construction using prefabrication techniques is increasingly becoming a trend in the construction sector, with more companies looking to complete complex buildings in shorter timespans.
2. Sustainability - The push for sustainable skyscrapers has been on the rise in recent years, and this trend is likely to gain even more momentum as BSB's Sky City becomes a benchmark for energy-efficient high-rise buildings.
3. Real Estate - The advent of new and efficient construction techniques like prefabrication could potentially drive down the cost of building skyscrapers and make real estate more affordable for developers looking to build towering structures.
