Fishy Chinese Skyscrapers

These Fish-Shaped Skyscraper Was Designed by the RMJM Architecture Firm

The RMJM architecture firm will be using a fish-inspired design to construct the Doumen Observation Tower building in Doumen, China. The 93-meter tower structure has a fish-inspired shape and texture.

The proposed tower will likely be located at the intersection of two rivers. It was designed by RMJM's Shenzhen office to mimic the movement of water and aquatic life in the coastal city, which is often referred to as the Chinese Riviera.

The tower will be clad with 1,400 bent panels made from perforated aluminum. This will give the building a fish-like scaly texture while also shading the interior from direct sunlight.

Project architect Zhenyuan Yang says the jumping-fish shape "should symbolize the prosperity and rapid transformation of the city."
