Before this site just north of Beijing was occupied by a European-style home and now, the Japanese studio Kiki Archi redesigned the structure as a red brick house with pared-back volume and a calmness-inducing landscaped garden. Kiki Archi did this intentionally as the firm wanted to "re-establish the relationship between the house and the land." The residential building project is named the 'Anna Garden House.'
The red brick house exterior creates a cozy feeling but this material motif also carries throughout the interior of the space. Splashes of brick create a balanced juxtaposition with wooden furniture inside the Anna Garden House. Kiki Archi also installed glass folding doors to allow a substantial influx of light.
