Latin America will soon be home to a series of innovative 3D-printed houses that will go up rapidly thanks to the Vulcan II, a large-scale machine capable of creating the frame for a small house within just one day. This is a project from New Story, a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit that is working with Icon, the construction tech company that created the new machine.
The homes were designed by Yves Behar’s Fuseproject and will be available for significantly less than traditional homes. Beyond rapidly creating a low-cost housing community in Latin America, New Story has tremendous potential to support other areas of the world. As Yves Behar describes, "New Story’s focus, obviously, is the developing world. But I can’t stop thinking about Northern California and the tremendous need we have for housing."
