Apis Cor and property development company PIK recently collaborated on a project to design and construct a 38-square-meter 3D-printed house in just 24 hours.
The creation of the single-storey printed house in the Russian town of Stupino called for the use of Apis Cor’s giant mobile 3D printer. The design itself takes the form of a cylinder, giving the small home curvaceous walls, showing the kind of flexibility and freedom that 3D printing grants architects and designers.
Even though the construction of the house was executed at one of the coldest times of the year in Russia, the concrete used to form the house was warmed to the necessary temperature simply by setting up a protective tent around the building site. The total cost to construct the house amounted to just over $10,000.
