Printed Biomimicry Dresses

threeASFOUR Unveiled Two Printed Fashion Designs at NYFW

At New York Fashion Week this year, threeASFOUR unveiled two 3D-printed fashion designs that take inspiration from the natural world. The two pieces, Harmonograph and Pangolin, are included in the fashion label's Biomimicry collection and represent the "possibilities unfolding at the intersection of fashion, design and technology." Harmonograph is a dress that curves around the body in three spiral forms, emulating the Fibonacci sequence. Pangolin is a dress that borrows from a classic threeASFOUR design, but reimagines it in a new form that involves many interlocking wave-like pieces.

For the creation of these two dynamic pieces, threeASFOUR collaborated with designer Travis Fitch and Stratasys, a 3D printer manufacturer.

Beyond simply existing as avant-garde pieces on runways, 3D printing is filtering into mainstream fashion with a number of easy-to-customize footwear pieces.
