Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut Edition 14 is an unusual new bottling inspired by the classic Italian dish spaghetti puttanesca, featuring capers from the island of Pantelleria. "We realized that capers can be more than just a garnish for a tried-and-tested pasta recipe," founder Alexander Stein said in a news release.
The capers underwent a two-step salting process to bring out nutty, slightly pungent flavors before they were macerated and distilled with the brand's signature 47-botanical blend containing juniper, almonds, coriander, honeysuckle, chamomile, licorice and more. Every year, Monkey 47 releases a limited-edition Distiller's Cut with an unusual 48th botanical—in the case of Monkey 47 Distiller’s Cut Edition 14, capers. Previous additions have experimented with everything from maple syrup to mustard to push the boundaries of what conventional gin can taste like.
