Minerva's Virtual Academy is launching a new BTEC qualification for students pursuing a higher education in esports and gaming. The course will operate through September 2023 and will be led by James Fraser-Murison, Director of Esports at Minerva.
The program, which was developed with Fraser Esports LTD and facilitated by Pearson, will cover everything from game development and design to event management. Pearson relied on insight from the British Esports Federation to help with the creation of the program.
"The esports industry is currently worth north of $1.3bn dollars. Our job as teachers is to prepare our students for the ever-changing workforce and when you take into account the multiple jobs within this industry, shoutcasting, creating your own events, social media management and more, this is absolutely the right time to have this qualification taught online," commented Fraser-Murison.
