Thomas Fuchs's 'Love and Hate' series has all the conflicted emotions, passion and confusion of any bad relationship. The decals range from cheeky to dark. In one design, Fuchs cleverly depicts the glow of a car's headlights as a heart enveloping a deer -- a deer in the headlights. In another, the opposite sides of a heart serve as train tracks complete with two trains following the rails, leading them to inevitably crash into one another -- a train-wreck.
The 'Love and Hate' series is full of such metaphors. A few of these metaphors may be too familiar and topical for some people. It's best if these people avoid the illustration that depicts an elephant crashing through a brittle, red heart -- the elephant in the room.
