The Keighley Bus Company is Now Testing the '662Pay' Mobile Ticketing System

The shuttle service operated by the Keighley Bus Company between the towns of Keighley and Bradford in Northern England is now testing a new mobile ticketing system that works alongside Bluetooth beacons.

As part of the '662Pay' pilot, BLE beacons have been placed at bus stops so that passengers may use a smartphone app to board the bus. Rather than just serving as a way to conveniently board the bus without a physical fare, those who use the system also have the potential to take advantage of "the best-value price over the course of a day or week." The mobile app is designed to calculate the length of the route taken and cap the best value price for the duration of a day or week.

This mobile ticketing system is set to speed up boarding times and as a result, journeys as well, as there is no interaction that has to happen with a physical ticketing machine.
