Every once in awhile, when looking at the illustrated works of Juergen Grewe, you'll find yourself saying, "Oh hey! I remember that. That's awesome." The reason for this is because Grewe's paintings often jumble together a myriad of nostalgic and cutting-edge pop culture iconography to form collages that equally feel new, yet familiar.
Juergen Grewe is a German artist currently working and living in Berlin. He paints in a pseudo-realistic style and has a penchant for keeping his subjects' skin monochromatic.
I find it highly fascinating that he's rendered The Wolfman in several of his pieces, but even more peculiar is his inclusion of what looks like the Putty Patrol from Power Rangers and Kroenen from the Hellboy series in some of his more larger scale collages. Surely there must be a deeper meaning behind these characters' presence, but even if there isn't, they still look ridiculously cool.
