Contemporary Isolated Stone Houses

PPAA Arquitectos Erect an Elongated Retreat in Alculco

A modern and isolated stone house was completed by design practice PPAA Arquitectos for two adventurous brothers. Located in Aculco, Mexico, the retreat is one of many instances where individuals seek refuge in nature.

As the digital revolution gives us limited places to hide, there is a growing need for serenity and many take to the countryside. In designing the isolated stone house, PPAA Arquitectos looked to contribute with a minimalist and raw silhouette that wouldn't take too much from its surroundings. The result is an elongated structure that has a semi-irregular angular roof.

In addition, the materials for the isolated stone house are locally sourced, saving PPAA Arquitectos both time and money. The facade is created with "stone blocks from a nearby quarry."
