Inhouse Brand Architects, a South African firm, has designed a rebellious teenager's paradise with the rec room of a house in Fresnaye, South Africa. Tasked with making use of the home's extra space specifically for the family's 17-year-old son, the firm built a skate bowl inside the rec room.
Inspired by London skate parks, the bowl is completely functional, allowing the teenage resident to practice his vert moves in the comfort of his own home. To add to the street decor, the walls of the rec room are covered in original artwork by street artist Jack Fox.
Aside from the skate bowl, Inhouse Brand included a TV area covered in a curving wall of paneled wood, which is a reference to both the wooden ramps used by skateboarders and waves themselves, as the teen is also a fan of surfing.
