Haunting Halloween Ads

IKEA's Halloween Ad Parodies The Shining

IKEA's Halloween ad parodies one of the scariest films ever made. Of course I'm talking about Stanley Kubrick's psychological horror film 'The Shining,' starring Jack Nicholson as a writer who, upon moving into the Overlook hotel, becomes possessed by a supernatural entity that drives him to almost murder his own family.

The ad recreates one of the film's most haunting scenes, in which Jack Nicholson's son Danny rides around the hotel on his plastic two-wheeler, only to stumble upon the ghosts of two murdered twin girls. The kid in the ad rides around a spooky-looking IKEA after dark, but, of course, everything turns out to be just a bad dream.

Overall, the ad is a pretty spot-on tribute to one of the greatest Halloween films of all time.
