While the 2010 Haiti earthquake brought an onslaught of new charities, organizations and social enterprises working in and around Haiti in various capacities -- some misguided and swiftly planned -- Haitian Creations is now celebrating its fifth birthday.
The social business, which works with women in making and selling accessories including bags, bracelets, necklaces, earrings and metal art, is a program operating under Heartline Ministries. Heartline is a faith-based organization that works in Port-au-Prince doing orphanage initiatives, women-based programs among other things. It has been around for over 12 years and was founded by John and Beth McHoul. The artists' stories are available online.
