In an effort to provide more educational access to girls around the world, the Obama Foundation's Global Girls Alliance will be partnering with GoFundMe to create a Global Girls Alliance hub. The decision to enact this partnership came as it supported a model more focused on grassroots leaders. According to Tiffany Drake, director of the Global Girls Alliance, this model was chosen so that "donors can see and support real people and real projects."
While the Global Girls Alliance hub serves mainly as a fundraising tool, it also showcases itself as a distinct awareness builder. The projects are all laid out on the hub and all tackle barriers that impede girls in society. There are currently five projects available on the Glocal Girls Alliance hub that range from "mentoring girls in Uganda to hiring educators in India to covering school-related expenses for girls in Guatemala."
