Berlin-based photographer Suzana Holtgrave began her 'Girls on the Balcony' series after a friend visited her own balcony.
Holtgrave's friend sat in front of her flowers with eyes closed and face turned up towards the sky, absorbing the summer sun. Something about the scene reminded Holtgrave of her homeland, Croatia, and the project was born. Holtgrave explains, "I wanted to capture this moment with different girls on different days to get various emotions, spontaneously." She plans to continue the project until her flowers are no longer blooming.
The first installment of the series, all of which will be featured on C-Heads, stars Leslie, Lisa, Maya, Sina and Sophie. There were no makeup artists, hair stylists or fashion editors present during the shoot, giving the editorial a raw, authentic feel.
