Malnutrition continues to be one of the greatest issues for many countries, currently affecting 195 million children worldwide -- but through the Freja Beha Erichsen Doctors Without Borders campaign, you can easily help put a stop to this condition. Working in conjunction with the 'Starved For Attention' DWB exhibit, Freja and fellow model (and rumored girlfriend) Arizona Muse are encouraging all members of the fashion industry to donate their earnings on October 4, 2011, to Doctors Without Borders.
Freja urged her colleagues to follow she and Arizona's lead in a letter eloquently saying, "Let us gather as an industry and give a day’s salary, whatever that may be, for Medecins Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders) in order to help provide the much needed means for these incredible individuals to be able to help humanity and save lives. Let us help fight malnutrition and basic diseases that if left untreated are fatal."
Freja's initiative is incredibly inspiring and powerful, especially given the industry to which she belongs and the issue of body image that surrounds models. The concept of donating a day's earnings to a good cause is one that extends beyond the fashion world, and will hopefully encourage many others to contribute on October 4 or any other day. Check out the Freja Beha Erichsen Doctors Without Borders interview for more from the two philanthropic models, Freja and Arizona.
