Drone delivery has been a buzzy concept for some time now, but Flytrex and AHA have partnered to make it more than just an interesting thought experiment. The companies now offer drone delivery for food orders placed through AHA, using Flytrex's drones to offer a speedy and green alternative to ordering food via a driver.
Whereas drone delivery has previously been little more than a stunt, the Flytrex and AHA partnership is the first to offer scale drone deliveries in an urban area, rolling it out across all of Reykjavik, Iceland. Flytrex is hoping to use its experience in Reykjavik as a case study to ultimately compete with Amazon.
The Flytrex and AHA deliveries take an average of 4 minutes (as compared to 25 minutes by car). The drones are also run entirely with electricity, making them far more energy efficient than gas-powered vehicles.
