Those who are studying or visiting the Copenhagen Business School (CBS) now have the chance to leave their cash, cards and smartphone at home and instead opt to pay for their lunch using only a finger scanner. Digital payments specialist Nets is now introducing a trial for finger vein payments at CBS, experimenting with the system as a safer, faster and more secure way to serve customers.
The finger scanners installed in the cafeteria makes it possible for anyone with a Dankort, the national debit card of Denmark, to enrol and link their unique finger vein pattern to their account.
Unlike other methods of biometric verification, such as scanning the fingerprints, which can easily be replicated, these finger scanners authenticate individual users based on the detection of circulating blood.
