Nature-Focused Skyscrapers

A Large Eco-Skyscraper is Being Built with an Expansive Forest

Bjarke Ingels Group and Carlo Ratti Associati have begun construction on a massive eco-skyscraper in Singapore, which will feature a four-storey vertical park built into the building itself. The finished building will contain 29 floors of office space and 299 apartments. This may seem fairly standard in terms of skyscrapers, but unlike most towers, the building will feature a large forest-like area separating the building in half. The urban oasis will be framed in a glass and steel facade with cut-outs allowing the trees to grow outside of the building.

This eco-skyscraper seems to be focused on green space, as the building will also feature multiple public gardens. The ground floor will feature ample green-space, and will be used for exercise classes, art installations and community events. The building will also be outfitted with state-of-the-art technology as sensors will dot the entirety of the building. This combination of nature and man will set a new benchmark for future work-spaces and both companies hope more construction projects will follow its lead.
